HRH Princess Alia Al Hussein was born in 1956 to King Hussein and Queen Dina of Jordan. She is the President of the Jordanian Equestrian Federation and also works with charitable causes and organisations dealing with intercultural dialogue and understanding. In 2009, she founded the Princess Alia Foundation to address issues relating to human and animal welfare and the environment. The Foundation follows a holistic approach and its message is 'Compassion and Respect Towards All Creation'. Sharifa Sarra Ghazi was born in 1971. After early schooling in Amman, she attended Roedean School in Sussex, and then completed her Officer Training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, before joining the Jordanian Army. With a degree in Psychology and Cognitive Science from University College London and as a qualified counsellor, she has worked tirelessly to improve educational standards for children in Jordan, improve parenting skills and increase opportunities for women. Her love for all living things is innate and, as Princess Alia's right hand in the Foundation, she is dedicated to the rescue of animals and the rehabilitation children in a holistic, compassionate and practical way.
