About the Author

Hugh Miller was a self-made man who became a figure of national renown in the fields of social commentary, literature, religion and geology. Reviews

'I warmly recommend this marvellously rambling book which is full of sensitivity and poetry, to anyone who loves Scotland or is a humanist, a sociologist, an ethnologist, a geologist, a palaeontologist or just a fossil fan.' Nature, November 2003
