Louis-Antoine Prat is a writer and an art historian. He has been project leader for the Graphic Arts department of the Louvre since 1976 and he is vice-president of the Friends of the Louvre. He was awarded the Prix Mont Blanc for Culture in 2000 (together with his wife Veronique, editor-in-chief of Figaro Magazine) He is the author of many articles on the history of French drawing, and with Pierre Rosenberg, now honorary president of the Louvre, co-author of the catalogues raisonnes of the drawings of Poussin (1994), Watteau (1996) and David (2002). He has curated many exhibits: the Nicolas Poussin retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris (1994), the exhibit "L'Empire du Temps" at the Louvre (2000) and most recently "Theodore Chasseriau: The Unknown Romantic" which travelled to the US (Metropolitan Museum).
