About the Author

Mikhail Y. Treister, Ph.D. (1984) in Archaeology, Moscow University; habilitation (1993) at Oriental Institute (Moscow), was Curator at the Dept. of Art and Archaeology at the Pushkin Museum, Moscow (1979-1997) and is an independent scholar now. He has published extensively on the archaeology of North Pontic area, problems of Greek and Roman metalworking, gold of Troy, Scythia and Sarmatia.
