Walter Hooper was born in Reidsville, North Carolina in 1931. He read Theology and then lectured on Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Kentucky. Moving to Oxford, he became friends with C.S. Lewis in his last year. One of the world's leading authorities on the life and works of C.S. Lewis, he has edited and written introductions for dozens of Lewis's books. In particular he compiled All My Road Before Me, Lewis's diary for 1922-27, and is co-author, with Roger Lancelyn Green, of C.S. Lewis: A Biography. A former Anglican priest, he is now a Catholic and still lives in Oxford.
