Vinay Sitapati is a political scientist, journalist and lawyer. He teaches at Ashoka University and writes for the Indian Express. He recently completed a Ph.D. in politics at Princeton University.
"Sitapati demonstrates that an effective reformer need not be colorful, just manipulative and stealthy, as Kautilya advised millennia earlier. Opposed by most interests, Rao outfoxed them all, and by 1993, India's economy was soaring. Rao was less successful with other problems: Kashmir, Babri Mosque, and Sonia Gandhi. Massively sourced in archives and interviews, Sitapati's book reveals the gritty complexity of Indian politics." -CHOICE, M. G. Roskin, emeritus, Lycoming College
