About the Author

Nelson George is the award-winning author of a dozen nonfiction books on music and popular culture, and an accomplished screenwriter and critic. George has been a columnist for the Village Voice and Billboard, and has written for a range of magazines including Rolling Stone, Playboy, Esquire, and Essence. A consulting producer and Grammy-winning writer for The Chris Rock Show, George is the recipient of major book awards. George was born in Brooklyn, where he still lives. Daphne Carr (Series Editor) is the author of Pretty Hate Machine and writes for the Associated Press and Paper Thin Walls. Her essays have appeared in Marooned: The Next Generation of Desert Island Discs and Listen Again: A Momentary History of Pop Music. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, and can be found on the web at funboring.com.
