About the Author

Peter P. Belobaba is Principal Research Scientist at MIT's International Center for Air Transportation. He currently teaches graduate level courses on The Airline Industry and Airline Management in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT and is the Program Manager of the MIT Global Airline Industry Program. He has published articles dealing with airline pricing, revenue management and competition in leading scholarly journals and has served as North American Editor, Journal of Air Transport Management, 1994-1997. See author's previous works for previous book projects.

Cynthia Barnhart is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the MIT School of Engineering, Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, and serves as Co-Director of the Center for Transportation and Logistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and President of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and Management Science). She has developed and teaches courses including Carrier Systems, Optimization of Large-Scale Transportation Systems, Airline Schedule Planning and the Airline Industry. Her research activities have focused on the development of planning models and algorithms to improve carrier operations, particularly airlines. Her work has been published in several books and scholarly journals.

Amedeo R. Odoni is Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics and of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has also served as Co-Director of MIT's Operations Research Center, as Co-Director of the FAA's National Center of Excellence in Aviation Education, and as Editor of the scholarly journal Transportation Science. He is the author, co-author or editor of seven books and about 100 technical papers (see authors' previous works). Among other distinctions, he is the recipient of the FAA's National Award for Excellence in Aviation Education, the INFORMS Robert F. Herman Award for Lifetime Contributions to Transportation Science and several awards for excellence in teaching. Professor Odoni's recent textbook, Airport Systems: Planning, Design and Management is a standard reference on airport planning and operations.
