Anne Derbes is the author of Picturing the Passion Late Medieval Italy: Narrative Painting, Franciscan Ideologies, and the Levant. She has published on medieval art in journals such as The Art Bulletin, Speculum and Gesta. Mark Sandona is a specialist in comparative literature and whose research concerns the iconography of moral abstraction in the Renaissance. He has collaborated with Anne Derbes on several publications, most recently an essay on Crusader manuscript painting.
