About the Author

Martin R. Perrow is an ecological consultant at ECON, an organisation that he founded in 1990 to bridge the gap between consultancy and research. He specialises in the restoration and rehabilitation of aquatic habitats, and is a leading exponent of biomanipulation. In addition to presenting his work to the scientific community, Martin has endeavoured to communicate his findings to the general public, through appearances on television, radio and contributions to newspapers and magazines. Martin has travelled extensively, leading eco-tours, and is an award winning natural history photographer. Anthony (Tony) Davy is Head of Population and Conservation Biology in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia, where he has taught and researched a wide variety of topics in ecology and plant biology. His research interests include genetic variation and the evolutionary and physiological responses of plants to their environments. Tony is the Executive Editor of the Journal of Ecology, Associate Editor of the Biological Flora of the British Isles, and was the Honorary Meetings Secretary of the British Ecological Society for a number of years.
