Reviews

"A great companion for anyone spending time on cruise ships, or where oceans meet land, this field guide to marine mammals of the world is packed with fun and useful information."--Terry Richard, Portland Oregonian "Highly recommended... This outstanding, well-organized guide to the world's marine mammals provides a succinct outline of the main groups and modern taxonomy... The 450 color photos, 500 other illustrations, and 124 maps are clear and informative... All information, including a glossary of unfamiliar terms, is provided in such a way that this volume will be useful to both nonspecialists and professionals."--Choice "In addition to a glossary, a checklist of marine mammal species, a selected bibliography, a list of photographic credits and an index, this book contains an excellent account of selected marine and coastal sites, where marine mammals can be observed. This very useful section will help in the planning of travels and excursions."--Peter Langer, Mammalian Biology "With the tremendous growth in tourism in the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic this beautiful book should enjoy a well-deserved continued popularity. If you are planning a trip to this exciting region, whether for research or tourism, buy this book well in advance and revel in the wealth of information and excellent photography. As a record of the distribution and diversity of Southern Ocean fauna, the book will be valuable to those working on seabirds and marine mammals, both in that region and also globally."--Alan E. Burger, Marine Ornithology "Probably the best guide to marine mammals currently available!"--Birdbooker Report
