Thomas F. Shannon is Professor of Germanic Linguistics & Dutch Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a Ph.D. in Germanic Linguistics from Indiana University, Bloomington. Johan P. Snapper is Queen Beatrix Professor Emeritus of Dutch Language, Literature, & Culture at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a Ph.D. Germanic Literatures and Folklore from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
