About the Author

Olivia Edward (lead author, The Best of MTV England, The Basics, London, and Yorkshire & Northumbria ) is a British travel writer with a lust for adventure and new ideas. Beginning her career in Shanghai as Editor in Chief of China's first Englishlanguage travel magazine, Asia and Away, she went on to write for Time Out, DK, Luxe guides, and over 50 other travel and lifestyle publications around the globe. Happiest when swimming in rough British seas, she is also extremely fond of fresh watermelon juice and Japanese all you caneat and drink restaurants. St. Louis native Genevieve Cortinovis ( The Thames Valley, The Cotswolds, Shakespeare Country & the Heart of England, and Cambridge & East Anglia ) left the Midwest as a teenager for the U.K. While living in London, she sampled many a West End pub and traveled extensively in Europe. A graduate of Barnard College in art history and visual arts, she lives and works in New York as an editor and freelance writer. Like all good Americans, she hopes to one day find herself permanently in Paris. She would like to thank her family for their support and encouragement. James Eggleton (coverage of Leicester, Manchester, the Lake District, Stirling, and Loch Ness) was born in Cambridge and is a recent Oxford Graduate in German and Spanish, currently living and working in London. His passions include sport, travel (recent vacations include Australia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia), and all things Spanish. Ashley Hermitage (coverage of Derbyshire, the Peak District, Liverpool, Chester, and Inverness) is in his second year at Birmingham University and is reading medieval and modern history. He has lived in Germany for many years and has traveled extensively across Africa, America, Asia, and central Europe. After graduating, Ashley hopes to pursue a career in journalism.
