Reviews

"A landmark book-one of the great works of United States mammalogy... The species write-ups are detailed, but very readable... Superb text... Publication of this splendid book represents a major milestone in the literature of mammalogy. It is an essential reference work for everyone seriously interested in the mammals of the eastern United States. Most highly recommended."-Wildlife Activist "The most up-to-date work on mammals in the region... An exhaustive treatise that serves as an essential reference book."-Northeastern Naturalist "This book is a treasure trove approaching encyclopedic proportions... Every mammalogist needs this book and every library should have it, too. Just like Hamilton's original, this new volume will 'point out neglected fields which will repay study.'"-Journal of Mammalogy "An easy-to-read and informative work. Strongly recommended for universities and large public libraries."-Choice "The authors have done a superb job of distilling a vast amount of information on the biology of the terrestrial mammals of eastern United States in a style that will not only satisfy the expert's need for accurate data but will also appeal to students and others interested in natural history."-James N. Layne, Senior Research Biologist Emeritus, Archbold Biological Station
