Reviews

"The last comprehensive amphibian checklist of this area was assembled a century ago. A welldone compilation such as this book (which provides the most relevant information in a single volume) was badly needed. The 205 amphibian species from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are covered in this volume, and 145 of the species are shown in reasonably good color photographs. In addition, illustrated identification keys and species accounts (including distribution maps, descriptions of habitats, advertisement calls, and tadpoles) might allow for a reliable determination in most cases."-Frank Glaw, Quarterly Review of Biology, September 2007
