About the Author

Gail Stavitsky is chief curator of the Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, New Jersey. She is the primary author of Waxing Poetic: Encaustic Art in America and Will Barnet: A Timeless World. She is also a contributor to many publications, including Conversion to Modernism: The Early Work of Man Ray. Twig Johnson is curator of Native American art at the Montclair Art Museum. She contributed to the publication Will Barnet: A Timeless World and has curated many shows, including Collecting Culture: Grace Nicholson and Transitions in Time: The Art of Dan Namingha.
