Ken Winner has been involved in the sport and business of
windsurfing since 1975. Not only has he competed and won at all
levels, but he also has influenced the evolution of windsurfing
equipment and technique. His career as one of the first
professional windsurfers involved competing worldwide and working
with equipment manufacturers to develop better equipment for
recreational windsurfers.
Since retiring from pro competition in 1986, Winner has continued to promote the sport of windsurfing. He helped revive the United States Windsurfing Association, the windsurfing arm of U.S. Sailing, and served as its president in 1987 and 1988. Recently, he has written extensively for WindSurfing magazine on the topics of equipment and technique.
Winner, his wife, Alison Fitts, and their children live in White Salmon, WA.
