Joseph A. Stout Jr. teaches U.S.-Mexican history at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. His many periodical contributions and book titles include The Liberators: Filibustering Expeditions into Mexico, 1848-1862 and Apache Lightning: The Last Great Battles of the Ojo Caliente. He is co-author, with Odie B. Faulk, of A Short History of the American West.
