You've seen Larry King's June 10 interview with Morris and Bernard Shaw's June 11 follow-up on CNN, so you already know that this is an all-points critique of the Clintons. Why no advance review in LJ? Those big-time media types have power, and when they want an exclusive, they get it; this book was embargoed until its June 12 publication. The book evolved from the earlier Promises of Change, originally scheduled for release in March (see Prepub Alert, LJ 11/15/95) and intended as an analysis of Clinton's first 100 days. Morris scrapped that plan when he allegedly uncovered hotter stuff about an Arkansas-based gun- and cocaine-trafficking ring, the Clintons' extramarital affairs, dirty campaign tricks, and more.
