About the Author

Valerie Lee Vierk was born in Kearney, Nebraska on September 23, 1951 and has lived in nearby Ravenna most of her life.

She has enjoyed writing since early childhood. She writes poetry, fiction and non-fiction. She is a member and officer of the Nebraska Writer's Guild.

She graduated from University of Nebraska at Kearney in December 1996 with a B.A. in English and a minor in history. She has worked as a secretary at the University for twenty-one years.

Valerie also loves nature and enjoys capturing the beauty of her native Nebraska with her camera. She monitors a large bluebird trail every summer. She also is involved in animal welfare issues.
