"Written on Stone: The Cultural Reception of British Prehistoric Monuments is a surprisingly imaginative (and yet scholarly), well-integrated volume of essays on the powerful hold that the megaliths of the British Isles have on the imagination of the creative and intellectual segment of the modern West, not to mention the popular cultural imagination of a far greater percentage of the population. It is readable, sparklingly interesting, and highly recommended."Carole M. CusackUniversity of SydneyAlternative Spirituality and Religion Review, 5:2 (2014)
