Kenan Aksu was born in Kastamonu in Turkey. He has a History degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul; a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration from the School of Finance and Management London; and an MA degree in History from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Politics Department at Goldsmiths College; University of London. He is working on the evaluation of EU-Turkey relations and the impact of energy security on this relationship. His research interests include energy politics, European Union-Turkey relations, Cold War studies, modern European and Turkish history, Central Asia, and Middle Eastern history and politics. He is the Chairman of the Bosphorus Research Center, a London-based academic research establishment which organises annual international conferences. His most recent book, Turkey-EU Relations: Power, Politics and the Future, was published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing in 2012.
