"This text is written in an orderly progression, beginning with an
introduction to pharmacokinetics and pharmacology... ...the writing
style is consistent and the chapters follow similar layouts.
...illustrations do serve to clarify particular concepts.
...numerous tables serve to encapsulate the text are very useful
for quick reference. ...as the name states, this would be
appropriate for a course in pharmacology, would meet BOC guidelines
for this competency, and is complete enough to be the sole text for
such a course. ...this text could serve as a reference for the
athletic training room and would be very helpful in establishing
procedures for the storage and dispensing of medications. ...a well
written reasonably priced text. ...as drugs come to the forefront
in athletics and athletic trainees deal with an ever-widening
cross-section of the population, the information contained in this
text will be invaluable to all athletic trainers." -- John Miller,
PhD, ATC, Journal of Athletic Training
"One of the strengths of this text is the depth and breadth. The
organization of the text is great. I really like the flow charts
that give the reader both a heads up and a review...the other huge
advantage...is the charts, graphs, and tables. In many cases the
tables are directly linked to the Athletic Training Educational
Competencies which is another BONUS of the text." -- Elizabeth
Swann, PhD, ATC, Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale,
FL
..".chapters are easy to follow and do not require the reader to
have an extensive biochemistry background. Although the book is
written for athletic trainers, students and clinicians from other
sports medicine disciplines would benefit from the information." --
Janice K. Loudon, PT, PhD, SCS, Physical Therapy
