Thomas à Kempis (ca. 1380-1471) was a German monk and a practical mystic. During his monastic life, Thomas wrote thirty-one books, treatises, and articles including a chronicle of his monastery and several biographies.
Fr. John-Julian, OJN, is the founder of an Anglican contemplative order and the author of the critically-acclaimed, The Complete Julian of Norwich, also in the Paraclete Giants series.
“If you have yet to drink deeply from the wisdom in these
pages, The Complete Imitation of Christ removes any
excuse for further procrastination. Thomas offers his readers the
chance to probe the depths of their spirituality and reminds us
that even our well-intentioned oblations remain stained with
selfishness unless we constantly seek to root out our egocentrism
and pursue the very heart of God. Make no mistake, this text was
written for monks by a monk, but with a little help from Friar
John-Julian, its challenges remain potent and relevant for everyone
who will take the time to hear them.” —Brandon D. Waite, Englewood
