As a member of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), he shared in the award of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. James F. Miskel is the author of Disaster Response and Homeland Security: What Works, What Doesn't (Stanford University Press, 2008) and A Fevered Crescent: Security and Insecurity in the Greater Near East, which he coauthored with P. H. Liotta (University Press of Florida, 2008). He served on the National Security Council for two presidential administrations.
