About the Author

Catriona Bass is a scholar of Tibetan and Russian history. She has taught at Hubei University in Wuhan and previously worked for the Lhasa City Government Education Department and the Tibetan Academy of Social Sciences. Her other works include Inside the Treasure House: A Time in Tibet (1990).
