About the Author

Helen Reilly is a public historian, based in Wellington. She has always enjoyed history, and her interest in energy was sparked by her husband's association with the electricity supply industry in Scotland, South Africa and New Zealand. Her first book, Gas, Power and People: Energy supply in Hutt Mana 1880-2005 was published in 2006. Currently, Helen is working on the history of energy supply in the King Country.
