Ron Reid-Daly, a born Rhodesian tossed a coin and decided to join the newly formed "C" Squadron, SAS (Malayan Scouts) in the early 50s. So began a distinguished military career. He saw active service during the Malayan Insurgency, before returning to the Southern Rhodesian Army. He was the first RSM of the Rhodesian Light Infantry and progressed through the ranks to a majority, before being asked by the Army Commander to form the Selous Scouts. He moved to South Africa in 1980, and today, in his retirement, is a much sought-after speaker by military units the world over.
