Roman Brackman was born in the USSR and studied at the Academy of Oriental Languages in Moscow. He was denounced as a Trotskyite and Zionist and sent to the Gulag in 1950. He was freed in 1954 after Stalin’s death and emigrated to Israel, and then the United States. He is the author of The Secret File of Joseph Stalin. He lives in New York City.
