Goutam Kumar Saha, Ph.D., is Professor of Zoology
at University of Calcutta. With excellence in academics and long
teaching experience in the field, he has successfully carried out a
large number of research projects on wildlife sponsored by national
and international funding agencies. His contribution in the field
of wildlife research has been widely acclaimed by the international
community and has been recognized by the IUCN. He is well known for
his pioneering work on "Red Panda" research in the Singalila
National Park, Darjeeling, India. Some of his wildlife research
also found place in the IUCN Action Plan 2002-2004. Dr. Saha has
published 178 research papers in different journals of
international repute and has 12 books and technical monographs to
his credit. He has participated in 44 national and 14 international
seminars and symposia and visited many countries of the world,
where his research has been widely applauded. Recently, he has
received the prestigious Mid-Career Award from University Grants
Commission in 2016.
Subhendu Mazumdar, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor
and Head of the Department of Zoology at Shibpur Dinobundhoo
Institution (College), Howrah, West Bengal. He has been actively
engaged in the field of wildlife conservation since 2001. He has
served the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) as Assistant Programme
Officer, where he maintained Wild Elephant Mortality Database and
Wildlife Crime Database, as well as, gained first hand knowledge on
combating wildlife crime. Later, he joined West Bengal Biodiversity
Board and participated in the preparation of People's Biodiversity
Register (PBR) in different ecological regions of West Bengal. A
National Merit Scholarship awardee, Dr. Mazumdar has a strong
academic record and has published research papers in journals of
national and international repute. He has authored two books and
has also published several popular articles. He has presented his
research findings in several national and three international
seminars, symposia and conferences. He has done his doctoral
research on the ecology and conservation of Black Kite in an urban
landscape and is presently conducting avifaunal research in human
dominated landscapes and wetlands.
