The signs in this volume reflect the varieties adopted in Hong Kong; each is given a near equivalent in Chinese and English and a brief description about its linguistic properties. It also lays the foundation of sign linguistics research, the development of sign interpreter training, the production of sign language teaching and learning materials.
Gladys Tang is an associate professor in the department of modern languages and intercultural studies, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has published widely on areas of sign linguistics and deaf education, and language acquisition.
